28 Weeks!

We had our first baby shower this weekend, at the Filling Station.
The Go Radio men came in town on Friday and stayed until Monday,
which I loved [of course].
Our good friend, Alex Beltrami, was in charge of the event.
So we gathered all of the remaining friends we have in this town
and celebrated with beers, food, and baby stuff.
The boys then chugged beers out of baby bottles!

One of my closest friends, Lurl, and Matt's parents came in to town for the festivities.
Lurl and Krysta of course helped to make the shower a blast.
Let's just say the boys got their day drink on and then we followed up the shenanigans
with mexican food and more hang out time.

The best part about events with our friends is that we get to see everyone
[almost everyone]
we love... in the same place, all at once.

Thanks so much to all of you who came out to celebrate and show us some baby love.
We love you all
and are thankful
for our friends.

[More Baby Shower Photos to Come]

Last week I was 28 weeks.
This week [obviously] I am 29 weeks.
I am, again, late on this post.
Eh.. what can you do?

28 WEEKS.

My Pregnancy This Week

Hello from BabyCenter!
By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can open and close her eyes, which now sport lashes. This movement is more of a reflexive blink than a deliberate opening and closing, but it won't be long before she's batting those beauties at you.>>Read more about this week

            Week 28

29

week by week pregnancyYour Baby:
  • Continues to get a longer and fatter by the day. Shocking, I know. His or her weight has actually doubled in the past month alone, which is why you’ve probably gotten comments about “popping” recently.
  • Weight is around 2.5 pounds right now, which (if you’re like me, gazing in horror and your inside-out belly button and spidery stretch marks) might sound a little frightening, since the baby clearly needs to gain a LOT MORE WEIGHT before he or she is fully cooked, and oh my God, how in the world is anything bigger going to fit in there?
You:
  • Are either feeling like this pregnancy will NEVER end, or that 12 more weeks is simply not nearly enough time to prepare. Or you might feel both ways, changing your mind one minute to the next.
  • Must move furniture and fold clothes and organize the linen closet and replace the bathroom vanity and finally get rid of that sooty stain on the marble fireplace and yes, DARLING, these are all essential tasks that MUST be completed before the baby gets here, DO NOT ARGUE WITH ME, NOW GO HANG UP SOME SHELVES.

How far along?: 28 Weeks; 6 Days
Total weight gain/loss: +22 pounds
Maternity clothes?: Maternity Leggings, Maternity Jeans, regular
everything else!
Stretch marks?: Nope!
Sleep: The pee break at 5 am is annoying, and the belly is getting
heavier/harder to turn over.
Best moment this week: Spending 3 nights and 2 days with the
husband... AGAIN!
Miss Anything?: My skinny jeans.
Movement: Wiggle worm.
Food cravings: Lots of fruit! (and... cheese. duh)
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nada.
Have you started to show yet: 22 LBS ago.
Gender: A Little Man.
Labor Signs: Just Braxton Hicks.
Belly Button in or out?: Flat.
Wedding rings on or off?: On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! But the mood
swing/tiredness phase is coming back, I fear.
Looking forward to: Seeing what this little peanut head looks like.

Until Next Time,

It Really is a Miracle.

*this is not my belly.
I've been doing a lot of thinking
[if Matt's reading this he's probably thinking "oh boy, here we go"]
about the amazing process an infant goes through before it ever enters this world
[real deep, i know you're thinking it too].
When I think back to the beginning of my pregnancy, I remember waiting for the moment I would be able to feel our little miracle start to kick. Everyone told me "it is the most amazing thing you will ever feel," and everyone was right. I wish dad's could feel it too. Of course, when Matt puts his hand on my belly and baby gives a good nudge his face lights up with pure joy; there is no denying it is a miracle.

Now, I am 28 weeks into my pregnancy... 11 weeks and 3 days to go.
With every growing kick and fluttering, rhythmic hiccup cycle, I sit in disbelief.
Oh! How our baby is growing so rapidly inside, all the while reminding me that he is already so important with his little movements.
When he twists and turns [normally in the middle of the night]
I smile and thank God for our son.
He already makes me laugh.
Routinely, I wake up at 4am when he decides to move his fat little body on to my bladder,
and waddle in to the bathroom.
I don't even mind those moments.

I can't imagine a more perfect miracle.
Starting from nothing and growing in to a little human in only 40 weeks!
Unbelievable
Developing every body part and every essential detail.
I am thoroughly impressed by creation.
And each kick...
makes me believe
in miracles.
