36 Weeks!

36 down... 4 more to go.
4. more. to. go.
[fingers are crossed that it is more like 2 weeks... but, eh - "potato, pototo"]

I am going to be honest with you.
I'm getting a little stir crazy.
Hormones are all weird.
I have no amount of patience whatsoever.
And due to the lack of running
[since I am trying to keep baby in until Dad is in FL],
quite honestly I have gone a little nuts.

No running.
My midwife advised that I slow it down a bit since things are progressing quickly.
This has limited me to long walks [which I love] and lots of naps.

Sleep?
Forget it.
With the amount that I wake up at night to go to the bathroom, I might as well not even go to sleep.

Food?
I can not get enough grapefruit.
Seriously, I have eaten 7 in the past 3 days.
Oh. And the occasional burger has not been bumming me out either.

--------------------------------
A little snippet of my day...
So, I work in a bakery/restaurant where people act like that have no normal source of human interaction. I also deal with customers all day long and their special requests for pastries, pies, and everything lovely.

Customer [Man]: "Gosh. Everything looks so good here."
Me: "Yes sir. Do you know what you would like to order?"
Man: "One of everything!! HA! Just kidding, then I would look like you."
Me: [insert the most unenthused face you can imagine]
Man: [Awkward Silence]

Are you kidding me?
You are talking to a 36 and 6 days pregnant person and that's what you are going to say?
[For future reference, in case you have a run-in with a pregger, it is not funny. It does not humor me, nor any other ready to pop pregnant lady. Keep the asinine comments in your head, if you want the best outcome.]

Also. Comments like
"You're huge!"
"Man, are you going to work up until you pop?"
"Woah! Look at that belly"
"Are you in a bad mood because of the pregnancy hormones?"
Are completely counter productive. In fact, they make my blood boil.
My friend Lesley was right when she said "you will hate everyone by the end of your pregnancy."
Its almost like I want to respond with "Oh good. I am so glad you informed me of how big I am. I didn't notice when I couldn't get comfortable enough to fall asleep last night, or when I realized my husband's large t-shirts are so tight, they show the bottom of my belly. Thanks for the heads up a-hole."
--------------------------------

Okay, enough with the complaining.

Here she is:
Week 36
My Pregnancy This Week

Hello from BabyCenter!
Your baby is gaining about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy hair that covered her body, as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Next week, your baby will be considered full-term. Most likely she's in a head-down position, but if she isn't, your practitioner may suggest scheduling an external cephalic version, where she'll try to turn your baby by manipulating her from the outside of your belly.>> Read more about this week

Weight gain (about an ounce a day) is your baby's top priority.
>> See the big picture: 36 weeks

      Week 36

24

pregnancy calendarYour Baby:
  • Is six pounds. SIX. POUNDS. You probably have clothes in your house that already fit a six-pound baby.
  • Is still not fully cooked yet, even though MOST babies born at this point will do just fine. But the lungs are better off with a couple more weeks of maturity.
  • The size of your baby will start displacing amniotic fluid over the final few weeks. As the fluid gets reabsorbed into your body, you may notice that your baby’s movements feel “different.” You might not feel as many kicks as you used to, or the sensations are just…well, “different.” It’s mostly because of the cramped quarters in there and less fluid.
You:
  • Are not done yet. I am sorry.
  • Have gained 25 to 30 pounds, according to the books, which also say that it’s “not unusual” for your weight to remain unchanged between weekly OB appointments. Say it with me: SHUT UP, BOOKS.

Poor photo quality.
Had to do some book stacking on a stool and set my comp up since no one is home to take the pic.
How far along?: 36 Weeks; 6 Days
Total weight gain/loss: +29 pounds.
Maternity clothes?: Yes. I hate them.
Stretch marks?: No, thankfully I still have that going for me.

Best moment this week: Finishing the work week and realizing I:
A) have 2 days off until more work
B) am 37 weeks tomorrow
Miss Anything?: Husband
Movement: Yes, they are getting more interesting and more painful.
Food cravings: Fruit and Burgers?!

Belly Button in or out?: Outty.
Wedding rings on or off?: On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Hmm. How do I answer this honestly?
Moody, for sure. Sad that Matt is gone. Happy and blessed that baby is healthy and
almost in my arms.
Looking forward to: Matt being in Florida (8 Days). Meeting our sweetie. Fitting
in to my skinny jeans one day.

A Weird Wednesday.

My Lovely Belly Button.

Today was weird.
I am running out of steam at work
[my goal is to work through Easter Weekend]
and the mere thought of getting out of bed at 7:45 a.m. near kills me.
[I know, I should go to bed earlier].

Today, my belly button was poking out so much,
you could see it under my t-shirt, chef coat, and apron?!
Someone pointed it out at work.
Thanks.

Also, "you're getting really big"
doesn't seem like much of a flattering compliment.
I know I am getting big,
the buttons on my chef coat almost popped off when I put it on this morning.
I don't need a play by play.
Just a simple, "Wow! It's almost time!" will do just fine.

Sister and I have been walking a lot this week.
It makes me feel better than if I were to run.

Today, I really had the waddle going on.
I feel like a duck and Humpty Dumpty got together
and I am the product.
Blaa.

Also, the night time bathroom trips are at a maximum,
last night I got up 6 times.
No wonder work seems like a bear in the morning.

Baby is complaining too, you know.
He keeps nudging and shoving my insides due to the lack of room.
I've only got so much space buddy...

We are both ready to be done with this week to week thing.
We want to meet each other already.

Then, I was pumping gas today and I said to myself,
"if the pump stops at exactly '80.00,' baby is going to come early."
AND GUESS WHERE IT STOPPED?!
"80.00"
Can you believe it?!
[I know, I can't believe the price of gas while we're on the subject].

Lastly,
I can not get enough fruit.
I am craving it so badly.
Tonight I ate almost half of a Canary Melon all by myself.

Oh, I guess this is the last thing.
Nesting is at a maximum.

I was going to go to bed early tonight,
instead - I rearranged the room.
[Sorry honey].

That's it for tonight.
I am closing one eye as I type,
due to exhaustion.

Have a lovely Thursday!

Lauren

Ps. Baby has a name!!

33 Weeks!

Goodbye Week 33, you will not be missed!
After a long week of work, my back can hardly support my every growing belly.
Each week closer is more and more exciting!
I mean, can you believe it? Matt and I will be parents NEXT MONTH!
I don't know if that's as crazy to you as it is to me, but woah!
Where did the time go?

Matt and I have been talking about how surreal it is going to feel,
once we hold Baby P for the first time.
Carrying him around in this contained baby holder of mine has been great,
but man are we ready to meet the little guy.

I think he's going to be funny.
It seems to me like he already loves putting on a show,
with all the kicks and dancing he does in my belly every day.

And... if he's anything like dad, he'll have quite the personality.
I'm in for the ride of my life.

Poor Matt has been home for a little over a week and all I have wanted to eat are cheese quesadillas from one of our favorite restaurants, El Jalisco's. If you remember, I despised Mexican food in the beginning of my pregnancy. I could not believe it. We used to frequent "El J's" so much, we might as well own stock in the place. The servers know our names and love Matt's "Guadalupe" tattoo.
We. Are. Regulars.
So, you can imagine my disappointment when the thought of sizzling, authentic fajitas made me gag from weeks 1 to 32. Well, hello chips and salsa! I am back in the game... now if I could only wash is all down with a cold, draft, 2-4-1 beer. YUM.

Also, new this week, my obsession with sweeping is at a maximum. Ask Matt, or anyone who knows me well, I am a neat freak. So the "nesting" that comes along with being pregnant has been in full force this entire pregnancy. I have painted furniture in my house, cleaned every square inch, and spray painted most of the frames in my house white?! So weird. The combination of pregnancy + Pinterest
is dangerous. I know I am driving everyone at the house crazy; they are saints for putting up with me.

Here is the 33rd Week....
I am getting big and UNCOMFORTABLE!
My Pregnancy This Week

Hello from BabyCenter!
This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.>> Read more about this week

Your baby is losing that wrinkled alien look.

      Week 33

pregnancy calendarYour Baby:
  • Weighs over four pounds and is 17 inches long.
  • The skeleton is hardening, except for the skull, which will remain soft and flexible to allow it to fit through the birth canal, and also to grow and allow adequate space for your baby’s enormously brilliant brain.
  • Kicks and movements are practically visible from space now, and you may look down and realize that your belly is no longer round, but pointed, as a knee or elbow stretches out for a few seconds before disappearing beneath the surface again.
You:
  • Are big. Yes. And the whole world may suddenly seem like it’s got an opinion about when you’ll go into labor, and it TOTALLY DOESN’T CARE that you aren’t even full-term yet, it thinks you’ve dropped and popped and are going to give birth in like, two weeks. Tell it to shut the hell up with my blessings.
  • May be waddling more than walking, and misjudging your circumference as you bump into counters and knock things over on tables.
  • A lot of pregnant women start having strange dreams about those pronounced movements — legs and arms stretching out from under your clothes, or the perfect imprint of your baby’s face suddenly appearing next to your belly button. If these dreams creep you out, just remember that it’s your mind starting to wrap itself around the concept that there is, in fact, a actual baby in there rather than some hypothetical concept of a baby.

How far along?: 33 Weeks; 6 Days
Total weight gain/loss: +23 pounds... Still.
Maternity clothes?: Yes... I am so tired of them.
Stretch marks?: No.
Sleep: Need. More. Of. It. PLEASE.
Best moment this week: Spending all of my free time with the husband.
Miss Anything?: Moving around normally. Lately, I have been bumping in to
things and usually need a "shove" out of bed.
Movement: He is going to be an active little man!
Food cravings: Mexican! So weird, right? My entire pregnancy has been spent
trying to avoid it like the plague. This week, if Matt would have let me eat a
cheese quesadilla and chili relleno from El Jalisco's every night, I would have!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Certain smells: bubble gum and
cigarettes!
Have you started to show yet: Yes. A random stranger called me "Mama."
Gender: A Poulos Monster.
Labor Signs: Lots of Braxton Hicks.
Belly Button in or out?: Out and Proud!
Wedding rings on or off?: On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! But really impatient. I want this
baby boy to come already!
Looking forward to: Our family growing.

Still Running?: Yes
Still working?: Yes
How many days this week?: 4 Days!
Total Mileage: 20 Miles!
